Read Jon Carroll Today in the San Francisco Chronicle

Today, January 15, 2015, in the Datebook section, Jon Carroll takes a historical perspective and tackles the subject of  the growing enmities in our world. You have to hand it to him just for trying,

My dreams for the last two nights have reflected my struggles with a feeling of “otherness,” of disorientation, of powerlessness. It helps to have rational people around who remind us, as Carroll does, that the hard work of making sense of it all  “requires a clean, well-lit mind.”

Some words of Gandhi may help us stay grounded: “Whatever you do will be insignificant but it is very important that you do it.”

My own words to each of you are to be kind to yourself. Do whatever keeps you sane.
